
The Faculty of Education (FED) at the University of Macau (UM) is pleased to announce the Doctoral Research Symposium. The symposium will be held on 7 May 2026 (Thursday) at FED, UM in Macau. We are now calling for submissions of doctoral research abstracts. The submission period will be open from 16 March to 15 April 2026.
The Faculty of Education of UM strives to become a leading center for teacher education and a research-intensive education institution with significant impacts in the Greater Bay Area, China, Asia, and the world. The faculty is dedicated to contributing to the education development, promoting educational research and strengthening collaborations in teacher education and academic exchanges with local, the Greater Bay Area and international education institutions.
The 1st Doctoral Research Symposium aims to provide a dynamic platform for interdisciplinary dialogue and academic exchange among doctoral students (PhD and EdD) and researchers in the field of Education across the Greater Bay Area (GBA).
It also encourages doctoral students to strengthen research skills and enhance academic communication, contributing to the entire research process from proposal development to publication, and inspiring continuous advancement in the field.
In addition, the symposium is committed to fostering doctoral students’ academic growth in line with international standards by encouraging the exploration of innovative ideas, the presentation of emerging research, and the development of meaningful professional networks.
Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Early Childhood Education
- Education Policy
- Teacher Education
- Special Education
- Language and Literacy Education
- STEM Education
- Technology and AI in Education
- Educational Leadership
- Child Development
- Art Education
- Physical Education
- All submissions must follow the provided template.
- The abstracts must be written in English.
- The abstracts should clearly indicate a preference for either oral or poster presentation, and must not exceed 250 words.
- Authors must specify the research type and complete the corresponding table with all required sections.
- Submission Deadline: 15 April 2026, 23:59 (Macau Time)
(Presentations will be grouped by similar or related research areas.)
- Use your full name and institutional affiliation in your presentation. Include all co-authors, if any.
- Clearly indicate which author(s) will present the paper.
- Oral presenters will be organized into sessions, with each presentation allocated 15 minutes.
- A short Q&A is to be expected at the end of each session.
- Presenters are expected to adhere strictly to the allotted time, to ensure smooth running of the schedule.
- Presentation slides should be prepared in landscape orientation, using Microsoft PowerPoint. Please ensure that your slides are clear and readable for the audience.
(Poster presentations from different research areas will be displayed simultaneously during the allocated session. Depending on their research interests and the time availability, attendees may visit multiple posters and interact with the presenters.)
- Use your full name and institutional affiliation in your poster. Include all co-authors, if any.
- Posters should be prepared in a vertical (portrait) orientation with a size of around 90 cm (width) x 120cm (height) (or around 3 ft. x 4 ft.), printed on paper.
- For purposes of readability, posters should be well-organized and not overly text-heavy. Maximize the use of visual elements.
Poster presenters are required to be present in person during the dedicated poster session. Presenters should remain by their posters and engage with interested participants throughout the session.
