Programme Overview
The Master of Philosophy in Education programme is designed to cultivate advanced knowledge and research skills across diverse educational domains. Through a rigorous curriculum that includes core research-related courses and specialized study plans, the programme equips graduates with the analytical and critical thinking abilities needed to address complex educational challenges. Graduates are prepared for doctoral studies or to lead and innovate in various professional educational settings, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and practice in education.
Programme Information
School Counseling (SCC)
The School Counseling specialization equips students with advanced knowledge and research skills to support students’ academic, emotional, and career development in school settings. Through coursework in counseling theories, advanced school counseling techniques, and career guidance, students focus on research methodologies to investigate and address diverse student needs. Graduates are prepared for research-driven roles in counseling practice or to contribute to academic advancements in school counseling.

Language of Instruction: Chinese and English
Duration of Study: 2 years
30 credits: 3 research methods courses (9 credits) + thesis (12 credits) + 3 specialization courses (9 credits)
Proof of English Proficiency
Applicants who received their Bachelor / Master’s degree from a university where the medium of instruction was not English are required to provide one of the following as proof of English proficiency:
• Obtained a Level 6 of the College English Test (CET) score of 430 or;
• Obtained a TOEFL* score of 550 (paper-based examination) / 80 (Internet-based examination) or; 托福 (TOEFL)*
• An IELTS* overall score of 6.0 or above with no sub-score lower than 5.5 or; 雅思 (IELTS)*
• Passed the Level 4 or Level 8 of the Test for English Majors (TEM).
*Note: TOEFL and IELTS scores are valid for two years from the test date.
